The Centre for Maritime Economics and Industries (MEI) of MIMA is pleased to announce the successful hosting of the MTCP 2023 (4 – 8 September 2023), an international online programme. This accomplishment has been made possible through unwavering support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia (MoFA/KLN), distinguished expert speakers, and the enthusiastic participation of international delegates.

YBhg. Dato’ Mohamed Suffian Awang, Chairman of MIMA, officially launched the MTCP training programme with intense opening remarks. It was supported by Mr. Mustaffa Khair Johari, Assistant Secretary, International Cooperation and Development Division from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, who delivered the opening speech and virtually addressed and welcomed the total of 18 participants from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Dominica, Maldives, Mauritius, South Africa, Sri Lanka, the Sultanate of Oman, Timor-Leste, and Zimbabwe.

This endeavour was strategically aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly emphasising UN SDG 9. The training programme aimed to address and mitigate sustainability challenges within the maritime transport and logistics industry by offering a comprehensive insight into potential solutions. It aspired to foster the development of resilient maritime infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialisation within the maritime transport and logistics sector, and ultimately stimulate innovation for the collective benefit of our stakeholders.

These five days served the efficacy of interactive e-learning, where participants and experts collaborated to learn about important topics in a vibrant context. Through active participation in all upcoming opportunities, MIMA will continue to explore fresh realms and fortify our connections of partnership with our stakeholders.
