The Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC) organised a security webinar entitled “Malaysia as a Maritime Nation: Current Security and Shipping Issues”.
Various staff members of the MISC and its subsidiaries joined the webinar, including Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM). The programme aimed to create awareness and enhance understanding of current security and shipping issues in Malaysia and the region.
The webinar began with a video presentation from Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), followed by welcoming remarks from Lim Woi Hooi, Head of Security GHSSE. Two representatives from MIMA were part of the webinar. Fellow Sumathy Permal presented her deck on “Maritime Security Issues”, meanwhile Senior Researcher Cdr Ang Chin Hup (R) presented about “Current Shipping Operation Issues and Maritime Issues in Malaysia and ASEAN”.

More than 200 participants turned up for the virtual talk. The awareness talk gathered various suggestions and insights from entities related to security and shipping. The discussion ended with a Q & A session from the participants.
MIMA extends its appreciation to MISC for the opportunity to participate in this virtual meeting. It offered a forum for MISC staff to develop a deeper understanding of maritime security and shipping and its critical issues, to support the country as a maritime nation.
