For the first time, the Day of the Seafarer was celebrated in the East Coast area at Mesra Mall, Kemaman, on 24 and 25 June 2022. The celebration went well.

The arrival of YB Dato Henry Sum Agong was celebrated by the seafarers

The two-day program organized by the Jabatan Laut Malaysia (JLM) was officiated by YB Dato Henry Sum Agong, Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia. With a theme set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) this year, “Your Voyage, Then and Now, Share Your Journey” aims to celebrate the experience of seafarers, in particular, the experience when they serve throughout a voyage on a ship at sea. The services and sacrifices contributed by the seafarers should be appreciated because without them, the country’s economic sector will be affected, and the safety of our waters will be threatened.

MIMA has been invited to be one of the exhibitors at the Maritime Exhibition held in conjunction with seafarer’s day. There were more than 20 exhibitors of industry players also involved in the exhibition, including the giant company MISC, Greenfinder Sdn Bhd, Marine Services, Pengakap Laut, Kemaman Port Consortium Sdn Bhd and others.

MIMA took the opportunity to expand strategic relationships and discuss potential collaborations that could be carried out with existing exhibiting companies. MIMA’s booth was visited by many visitors who wanted to understand more about the role of MIMA to the Government. All MIMA’s visitors will be given goodie bags as a token of appreciation. Hopefully, initiatives like this will continue in the future.
