Khairulanuar Manshor recites doa during the programme
The Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA) through its welfare and sports club donated basic food supply to fishermen in Pulau Pangkor. The one (1) day donation programme aimed to alleviate the burdens of the fishermen, who have been greatly affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO).
The MIMAZING Club organised the”Sumbangan Murni kepada Nelayan Kita” programme in recognition of the detrimental effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fishermen were especially affected, as they had lost their income due to market closures. Middlemen were no longer buying seafood from them, and more and more fishermen decided against going to sea to avoid wastage, which will result in a bigger loss of income in the long-term.
Datuk Dr. Sabirin and Dato’ Azri distribute the donation packs
Gracing the ceremony was a representative from ADUN Pangkor, YBhg. Dato’ Azri Jaafar. Also present was MIMA Director-General Datuk Dr Sabirin Ja’afar. As many as 30 fishermen received donations from the programme. MIMA hopes that the donation will help the affected families. The ceremony also observed all Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). MIMA would like to sincerely thank everyone who had contributed to the success of the programme.
