MIMA Research Fellow & Head of the Centre for Straits of Malacca, Cheryl Rita, was invited as a speaker at the Seminar on the Blue Economy, organised by the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo.
In her presentation, Cheryl shared valuable perspectives on blue economy development from both ASEAN and national viewpoints, emphasising sustainability, cooperation, and the strategic importance of maritime resources.

The session was moderated by Prof. Narushige Michishita, Executive Vice President, GRIPS and joined by Discussant, Dr. Yusuke Takagi.
Conducted in a hybrid format, the seminar brought together over 60 participants, including leading experts, scholars, and practitioners โ fostering vibrant dialogue and knowledge exchange across borders.
