The above Validation Workshop was conducted as the project team move towards completing the Malaysia Blue Economy Blueprint (MBEB) Study, in which MIMA is currently involved. This engagement is coordinated under the Ministry of Economy Malaysia and undertaken in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
The Workshop was well attended by over 100 participants representing various stakeholders, including from Sabah and Sarawak. MIMA Research Fellow & Head of the Centre for Straits of Malacca (SOM), Ms. Cheryl Rita Kaur heads the Marine Tourism & Maritime Transport Sectors in the study; with Researchers from SOM are directly involved as members of the study.
Ms. Cheryl Rita moderated the roundtable discussion on Maritime Transport; while Researchers, Ms. Fatin Anis facilitated the Marine Tourism session, and Mr. Nazmi involved as a rapporteur in the workshop.
The workshop was a success, especially in further updating the action plan on respective priority sectors in the draft final assessment for the study.
MIMA is happy to be involved in this important engagement to preparing a comprehensive national blue economy action document.
