MIMA took the international stage at the prestigious International Conference on Blue Economy: Future of the Oceans, held in conjunction with the Blue Economy Expo & Exhibition in Shizuoka, Japan. The event was co-organised by the Marine Open Innovation Institute and supported by Japan’s Cabinet Office (National Ocean Policy Secretariat), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the Fisheries Agency.

This was more than just another conference — it was a global platform for policymakers, scientists, industry leaders, and experts from Japan, Australia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, the Marshall Islands, and beyond to shape the future of our oceans.

Other featured speakers included representatives from the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Japan Fisheries and Education Agency, and Japan’s Policy Bureau — further cementing the forum’s role in advancing maritime cooperation.

Discussions focused on innovations, bold strategies, and real-world solutions for a sustainable ocean future — and MIMA was right in the middle of it.
