MIMA Participation in Women in Maritime Symposium 2024

Ms. Mazlinawati Abdul Majid, Senior Researcher of the Centre for Maritime Economics and Industries (MEI) of MIMA delivered a talk at the Women in Maritime Symposium, with the theme “Safe Horizons: Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Safety.” The symposium was organised by Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM) in collaboration with the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA), on Saturday, 22 June 2024, held at the ALAM Auditorium in Malacca.

Ms. Mazlinawati spoke on “Breaking Waves: Women in Maritime Transforming the Future,”. It was a highlight of the event. The one-day session was not only insightful but also highly interactive, featuring active participation from representatives of ALAM, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), and other prominent institutions.

Ms. Mazlinawati’s talk was particularly well-received, inspiring attendees with her insights on the challenges and opportunities facing women in maritime careers. Her contributions helped to foster a deeper understanding of the significance of women’s leadership and empowerment in the maritime industry.
