During the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA’23), the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA) participated by setting up an exhibition stand under the Ministry of Transport (MOT) pavilion. The purpose of the stand was to introduce MIMA to the public and the business community, and it was open from the 23rd to the 27th of May 2023.
At the exhibition, MIMA’s stand featured a staffed Question and Answer (Q&A) session where visitors could interact and gain more information about the organisation. Additionally, the stand offered souvenirs for visitors and hosted a fun game with exciting prizes, providing an engaging experience for attendees. The interactive game focused on marine life, allowing participants to learn while having fun.
In addition to promoting MIMA and engaging with the public, the institute showcased their newly published academic books, such as “Shipping and Logistics in Malaysia” by Mohd Yazid Zul Kepli and “Malaysia: A Maritime Nation” edited by Ruhanas Harun and Sabirin Ja’Afar. This allowed visitors to explore MIMA’s research and academic contributions in the maritime field.
Moreover, the LIMA’23 exhibition provided MIMA with a valuable platform to expand their networking opportunities with international organisations. This exposure at a global event allowed MIMA to gain recognition and establish connections with other maritime institutions and stakeholders.
The MIMA booth received esteemed visitors, including the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the Minister of Transport, YB Loke Siew Fook, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and many more. These VIP guests’ presence highlighted the significance of MIMA’s involvement and showcased the organisation’s importance within the maritime sector.
Overall, the LIMA’23 exhibition provided MIMA with a unique platform to promote their organisation, engage with the public, showcase their academic publications, and establish international connections. It was an opportunity for MIMA to enhance its global presence and contribute to Malaysia’s maritime industry.
