On 14 October 2025, Dr. Muhammad Nur Arif Othman from MIMA’s Centre for Coastal and Marine Environment (CMER) spoke at Session 3: Sea-Based Marine Plastic Pollution Management during the ASEAN Conference on Combatting Plastic Pollution (ACCPP) 2025, themed “All Hands on Deck: Uniting Forces for a Sustainable Plastics Future.”
Dr. Arif shared insights on the ASEAN Sustainable Ship Waste Management Strategy, a regional initiative to develop a harmonised approach for managing ship-generated waste and reducing marine plastic pollution.
This effort supports Malaysia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening marine environmental management and promoting cleaner, sustainable oceans — with MIMA contributing through quality research, policy input, and regional collaboration.
