Handover Ceremony of the MIMA Digital Collection Repository Development Project

A handover ceremony for the “MIMA Digital Collection” Repository Development Project was held on 6 May 2025, at MIMA HLX Office. The meaningful event symbolised the commitment of both institutions to preserve and elevate the nation’s maritime knowledge heritage, while also enhancing research and digital access to maritime-related issues for the public.

The ceremony was officiated by Ts. Haji Azizi bin Jantan, Chief Librarian of UiTM, who formally handed over the repository via the official MIMA Digital Collection Repository Handover Document to Dato’ Suffian bin Awang, Chairman of MIMA.

In attendance were Dr. Hjh Zalifah binti Awang Zakaria (Director, Digital Library Division), Mr. Mohd Izwan bin Salim (Senior Librarian, Digital Library Division), and Mr. Alfarabie Mohd Nasir (Senior Librarian, Section Head, Library Management Division). From MIMA, En. Mohd Khairulanuar Manshor, Head of the Publication and Resource Centre Unit (PRCU), along with members of the PRCU team, research officers from various units, and the Corporate Communications Representative, were present to witness the momentous occasion.

The MIMA Digital Collection project is a strategic collaboration between PTAR and MIMA aimed at preserving and facilitating access to research, reports, and publications related to Malaysia’s maritime field through a user-friendly digital platform.

The ceremony also opened avenues for both parties to explore further collaborations in areas such as digital preservation, academic collection development, and the sharing of maritime information resources at both national and international levels.
