MIMA
delegates concluded their working trip with a roundtable discussion and seminar
at Universitas Gunadarma (UG) on 22 May 2025. MIMA was warmly welcomed by Dr.
rer. nat. I Made Wiryana, Head of International Collaborations and Relations.
UG was established in 1981, currently hosting over 40,000 students, supported
by more than 1,500 lecturers across 53 academic programs and alumni network of
over 100,000 graduates.
Dr.
Muhammad Nur Arif was invited as one of the speakers for the international
seminar titled “Building a Sustainable Future: Integration of Tourism
and Port Infrastructure for Environmental Conservation”. He began with a
brief introduction about MIMA, its objectives, ongoing projects and roles in
Malaysia’s maritime landscape. He also presented the GEF-8 project, where the
project not only benefits the environment but also contributes to the economy
of local communities through tourism and provides an opportunity to showcase
Malaysian culture to international tourists.
Assoc.
Prof. EUR. ING. Ts. Ir. Dr. Syuhaida Ismail took the opportunity to promote
MIMA publications, including MIMA Newsletter, MIMA Journal and the MIMA
Bulletin. She encouraged lecturers and students from UG to publish with MIMA as
a stepping stone before submitting to indexed journals such as Scopus and Web
of Science (WOS). Dr. Syuhaida also shared several publication tips, including
the importance of involving co-authors from various institutions or agencies,
rather than limiting to a single university.
At the
end of the seminar, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between MIMA and UG as
a symbol of commitment to future collaboration between both parties.
