The upcoming MTCP course will be focusing on the policies developed by Malaysia in implementing a maritime education and training (MET) framework. The course will discuss the challenges and opportunities in implementing MET in promoting Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related careers. The training course will conclude with the strategic action plans to tackle the challenges and capitalise the opportunities towards the formulation of a comprehensive MET framework. This is another initiative to showcase the strengths of Malaysia as a maritime nation in continuously assisting the developing countries through capacity building in MET, specifically in technical collaboration in the midst of COVID-19 pandemic. Two key areas will be fulfilled through this training course, namely education in STEM and social development in terms of youth empowerment. This training course is also aligned with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Strategic Thrust No. 6 on Striving for Excellence in Human Capital.
