The United States Studies Centre (USSC), University of Sydney, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation (JF), hosted the JADE Workshop to discuss challenges and opportunities in Japan–Australia cooperation — strengthening ties under the Special Strategic Partnership (2014) and the Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation (2022).
The session highlighted the importance of sustaining long-term collaboration through deeper understanding, people-to-people ties, and engagement among emerging leaders.
MIMA Research Fellow & Head of the Centre for Straits of Malacca, Ms. Cheryl Rita, attended the workshop in her capacity as a Visiting Fellow at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), Japan.
As a policy research institute under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, MIMA continues to contribute to regional maritime dialogues and collaborations that strengthen understanding and cooperation across the Indo-Pacific.
