MIMA is honoured to receive a courtesy visit from Vice Admiral Justin Jones AO CSC RAN, Chief of Joint Operations of the Australian Defence Force, welcomed by our Director-General YBhg. Dato’ Monaliza Suhaimi.
The delegation also included representatives from the Australian Border Force, the Australian High Commission, Superintendent Brooke Leung, Defence Advisor Corey Shillabeer, and ADC FLTLT Kaitlyn Lyons.
Their presence reflects the depth of Australia’s continuous engagement with Malaysia, and the shared commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation.
Vice Admiral Jones, a distinguished naval leader with extensive operational experience across the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East, has held senior joint operational roles and was appointed the seventh Chief of Joint Operations on 5 July 2024.
Dr. Sumathy Permal Senior Fellow, Head of Maritime Security and Diplomacy, was also present during the discussion that focused on recent development in the South China Sea and Malaysia efforts to stabilise the region through defence diplomacy and deterrence.
His visit highlights the importance of advancing multilateral collaboration in addressing maritime security challenges, upholding regional stability, and supporting prosperity in our shared waters.
