Stakeholder Consultation on BRI and ASEAN-China Cooperation in the South China Sea

In line with MIMA’s role as a policy research institute, a stakeholder consultation was conducted to solicit views from government officials from various ministries and agencies on MIMA’s research collaboration with Chinese based institutions such as CIISS. The meeting also assessed the outcomes from BRI and ASEAN-China cooperation projects undertaken since 2017.

The consultation was chaired by Acting Director-General Dr. Rizal Abdul Kadir, followed by a presentation from Fellow and Centre Head for the Centre for Straits of Malacca Ms. Sumathy Permal. She shared the progress of the cooperation between MIMA and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies (CIISS). She also spoke on recent development in Asia and the Pacific to explore way forward on BRI and ASEAN-China Cooperation in the South China Sea related research.
