MIMA recently hosted The 4th National Marine Industries Forum (4NMIF) 2016 in Sibu, Sarawak together with the Association of Marine Industries of Malaysia (AMIM) and Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) and the support of the State Government of Sarawak.
MIMA has been promoting the marine industry by hosting three series of NMIF since 2010. In December 2011, the honourable Prime Minister launched the Malaysia Shipbuilding/Ship Repair Industry Strategic Plan (SBSR 2020) to put Malaysia in the league of top maritime nations. However, in view of the difficult times faced by the maritime industry, this year’s NMIF theme is “Seeking Opportunities amid Challenges.”
The event was officiated by YB Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, Trade and Investment (MIETI) Sarawak. In his keynote address, Tan Sri Ahmad Ramli, Chairman of MIMA and President of AMIM said there were still pockets of opportunities for industry players who cared to enhance efficiency and productivity even in the present harsh business environment.
