During the event

MIMA researchers presented on the significance of UNCLOS in relation to Malaysia’s maritime zones, as well as some of the recent studies and research projects being undertaken by its various centres.

The presentations facilitated discussions between the two parties especially on the importance of UNCLOS in ocean governance at both the international and regional levels and its adoption and implementation into national practices and laws/regulations on the management of coastal and marine areas around the country.

In addition to its role in conducting policy research, MIMA welcomes the opportunity to promote understanding and awareness of such issues among students involved in this area. Such discussions also facilitate better collaborations through possible future exchanges on areas of mutual interest.
