MIMA's mission is to develop and harness a quality, creative and forward-looking maritime policy research team led by a leading-edge leadership with efficient support services through continual capacity-building and competency upgrading to:

• produce and provide timely, authoritative, quality, and implementable outputs

• transform MIMA into a dynamic maritime knowledge resource with the optimisation of leading-edge tools

• network with partners, nationally, regionally and globally through inter alia the organising of, and participation in conferences, seminars, workshops, and other relevant activities

• raise public maritime awareness through all available avenues and media

• raise public awareness of MIMA through high-profile public relation initiatives

• provide advisory, and consultancy services to the Government, industry and other interested parties
