Maritime transport is essential for international trade, yet it is hazardous and a risky adventure for both hull and cargo. Therein lay the role of marine insurance - to give assurance that all is not lost, when an incident occurs causing loss to hull and/or cargo. However, unless the insurance cover is appropriate and adequate, the assured may be lulled into a false sense of security. Hence, it is imperative that assureds understand the key concepts of marine insurance and are aware of the developments in the law as well as develop the ability to appraise the suitability and adequacy of an insurance cover.

Dr Pola Singh (Director General of MIMA), Mr Gan Seng Chee (facilitator), Dr Arujunan Narayanan (Fellow, Head of the Centre for Maritime Security and Diplomacy) with training workshop participants.
