The three-day workshop organized by the Marine Department of Malaysia sought to develop standard operating procedures on hazardous and noxious substances (HNS) among the littoral states of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS). A 15-man delegation from the Thailand Maritime Enfocement Coordination Centre (THAI-MECC), a 24-hour coordination centre based at the Naval Command Centre in Bangkok visited MIMA on 26 June 2014. Thai-MECC coordinates efforts among relevant Thai agencies in protecting the country’s national interests.
